A customer sends an order. What´s next?
High service level through fast processes
You achieve customer satisfaction through fast processing of incoming sales orders: Goods are delivered faster to them, meeting their demand right on time.
In uncertain times of increased competition, it is necessary to retain customers in the long term: Success comes with good products at attractive prices with a fast and transparent supply. Mistakes in order fulfillment are not only expensive because of wrong deliveries, but do also fail to meet your promises. Efficiency, accuracy, transparency and speed are the keys to perfect customer service in order processing.
Problems in sales order processing
How does everyday life look like when receiving a customer order? Your sales people have done a great job and a new customer has placed an order. You receive this order by fax. Unfortunately its toner is almost used up and data is printed in bad quality. The person in charge has quite some trouble to read and type the order data.
So the first questions come up: What is correct? Is this character in the customer number an 1 or a 7? Is this the right article description? There is a difference in price.
The responsible sales man has no time for further inquiry, while he is meeting the next prospect. The customer is not available, either. So the fax is laid aside for the moment. It moves on through many hands, from desk to desk. If someone is on vacation the document remains on this desk, afterwards it is forwarded to the next clerk, it is put into the secretary´s pigeon hole and in the end it might have got lost.
It could take two weeks from order receipt until goods delivery. Probably there is afterwards not only a delay in the delivery, but the delivery itself is also defective?
This seems to be an extreme case, but certainly not an isolated one.
Direct Control: Advanced Order Processing
Companies with a high volume of sales orders make great efforts to unify their business processes, to increase their speed and accuracy. Modern IT systems - and SAP® systems are in the leads in this area - make an important contribution to business process control.
However, optimum increase in efficiency can only be reached if all business processes are integrated into the SAP® Business Workflow. This has to include the entry of order data, sending the data to SAP objects and finally routing the order to the according recipient.
A comprehensive and integrated solution has to cover all aspects of this process. DirectOrderControl is such a solution ensuring the complete and accurate processing of customer orders to meet the given promises.
